If Time for Designs supplied the lettering or graphics, keep any care information provided with the order. If you are unsure about a cleaner, washing method or protective product, ask before using it on the graphics.

Use a cautious cleaning approach

Avoid scrubbing graphics with abrasive tools or picking at an edge. Before using a cleaner, solvent, wax, polish, protective spray, automated wash or pressure-washing equipment, check whether it is suitable for the specific vehicle graphics.

If the correct method is unclear, pause and ask. A photograph of the affected area is more useful than guessing which product or process to use.

Check the graphics while the vehicle is clean and dry

Look at the lettering and graphics periodically so a concern can be described clearly. Useful things to note include:

  • an edge that appears to be lifting;
  • a scratch, mark or discoloured area;
  • damage close to a door, handle, trim or panel edge;
  • a change after cleaning or bodywork; and
  • any area that no longer matches the rest of the graphic.

Do not pull, trim, heat or try to repair an area based only on a general online guide. Send photographs and ask what information is needed next.

Be careful around unrelated vehicle work

Body repairs, polishing, paint treatment, valeting and other work on the vehicle may involve products or processes that affect lettering or graphics. Tell the person carrying out the work that graphics are present and ask them to consider the specific material before proceeding.

If panels have been repaired, repainted or changed, do not assume old artwork or measurements can be reused without checking.

  • a clear photograph of the whole affected panel;
  • a close photograph of the specific area;
  • a short description of what you can see;
  • when the work was completed, if known;

  • your name or original order details, if available.
