A useful flyer connects one audience with one clear action. Before designing it, decide who should receive it, where it will be distributed and what the reader should do next.

Choose the purpose and audience

A flyer may promote an event, introduce a service, announce an opening or support a limited campaign. Write down the primary audience and the single outcome you want. This keeps secondary details from taking over the page.

Lead with the main message

Use a clear heading that explains the subject or benefit. Follow it with only the information needed to understand the offer. Dates, locations, contact details and eligibility conditions should be easy to find without reading every paragraph.

Plan the distribution before quantity

List the places, areas, events or customer groups where the flyers will be used. This helps establish quantity and whether more than one version is required. Confirm permission where material will be displayed or distributed on property you do not control.

Choose a suitable size and layout

The finished size should suit the amount of information and how the flyer will be carried or displayed. Avoid shrinking long copy into a small area. If folds are required, agree the page order and finished format before completing the artwork.

Make the next action obvious

Choose one main response route such as calling, visiting, booking, attending or requesting a quotation. Check phone numbers, addresses, dates and web links carefully. A QR code can support the action, but it should be tested and should not replace essential visible information.

Prepare the print requirement

  • finished size, quantity and number of versions;
  • single- or double-sided requirement and any folds;
  • exact wording, logo and image files;
  • distribution or display date;
  • artwork status and approval contact.
