Posters can support a local campaign when the message, display location and next action are planned together. Printing more copies will not fix a crowded design or a location where the intended audience will not see it.
Start with the audience and location
Decide who needs to notice the poster and where they will encounter it. A window poster, noticeboard, indoor event display and larger wall poster each provide a different viewing distance and amount of attention. Confirm any permission required for the intended location before ordering.
Choose one main message
A viewer should understand the subject quickly. Lead with the event, offer, service or announcement, then add only the details needed to act. Long explanations, several competing offers and multiple contact routes can weaken the main point.
Make the next action obvious
Choose the action that best suits the campaign: call, visit, book, scan, attend or ask for a quotation. Keep phone numbers, web addresses, dates and venue information large enough to read at the expected distance. Check every detail before approving the artwork.
Coordinate size and quantity with distribution
List the intended display points before deciding quantity. The available space and viewing distance help determine the finished size. If several versions are needed for different dates or locations, identify them clearly so the correct files and quantities can be checked.
Allow time for artwork and production
Tell us the required display date, not only the day you hope to collect. Artwork review, amendments, approval and production all need time. Stock, final size and finishing must be confirmed before turnaround is promised.
